Sunday, April 15, 2012              See you next year at ShalomFest'13!  Date Coming Soon!

Jewish Food and Cultural Festival in Greenville, South Carolina

ShalomFest, the only Jewish festival in the Upstate, will return on April 15, 2012 from 10 am to 4 pm.  ShalomFest is an annual festival designed to strengthen the community through a variety of educational programs, specialty foods, and entertainment. Admission is FREE for the event which is located on the campus of Temple of Israel at 400 Spring Forest Road, a mile north of Haywood Mall in Greenville off Haywood Road.

At ShalomFest you are invited to attend a Jewish wedding, see a Bat Mitzvah, sit at a Passover Seder and experience other Jewish rituals first hand at one of our mock ceremonies.    You can also get a front row view of a Torah scroll; or visit Israel, remember the Holocaust or learn about Jewish holidays in one of our exhibit rooms.  See your name written in Hebrew and take in a class in Jewish cooking!

An event would not be Jewish without lots of delicious food!  Traditional Jewish foods such as brisket, kugel, matzoh ball soup, knishes and latkes will be available for sale. And don’t forget your blintzes and bagel with cream cheese & lox; corned beef or pastrami sandwich with pickle; kosher hot dogs; and Israeli foods such as hummus, pita and falafel.  We will also have delicious pastries like mondel bread, macaroons, hamantaschen, honey cake & rugelach all prepared by members of our congregation.

Enjoy these delicacies while listening to live music including a Klezmer band then learn some Israeli dances.  ShalomFest’12 also features a brand new lecture series led by local Rabbis – learn how Jews are both different and the same as their neighbors of different religions. Bring the whole family and spend time in the kids’ area or browse our gift shop for Judaica and other merchandise.
